Commercial Pilot Prerequisites

Before any flight training, the student will have to prove US Citizenship. This can be done by either presenting a US Passport or Birth Certificate. The TSA will need you to undergo a background check before beginning flight instruction if you are not a citizen of the United States. Visit www.fts.tsa.dhs.gov to complete the background application.

The students need a private pilot or commercial certificate to apply for this training.

Requirements

At least 250 hours of flight

100 hours in powered aircraft
50 hours in airplanes

100 hours of PIC

50 hours in airplanes

50 hours of cross-country

10 in airplanes

20 hours of training

10 hours of the instrument.
10 hours of complex or a technically advanced aircraft.
1-day cross-country that is 2 hours long and has at least a straight-line distance of 100 NM.
1-night cross-country that is 2 hours long and has at least a straight-line distance of 100 NM.

At least 10 hours of solo time

1 cross-country of at least 300 NM with landings at 3 airports and one leg being at least 250 NM.
5 hours at night VFR with 10 take-offs and landings at an airport with a control tower.
